12 Die In A Motor Crash Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
No fewer than 20 persons were involved in a fatal crash along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to reports, 12 persons died at the scene while 8 others sustained injuries in an accident involving a Volvo truck and a ford bus at Fidiwo/Ogunmakin area of Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
Confirming the incident to Galaxy news, Route Commander, FRSC, Florence Okpe said the suspected cause of the crash was speed, wrongful overtaking which led to loss of control at the narrowed section of the road where traffic is diverted to enable repairs of the weakened bridge between Fidiwo and Sandcrete.
The FRSC Sector Commander upon visiting the survivors commiserated with the crash victims and enjoined them to always caution their drivers who drive recklessly.
He also admonished motorists traveling on that axis of Lagos - Ibadan corridor to continue to obey the no overtaking and maximum speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour at the construction site.
The FRSC route commander added that the injured victims have since been taken to a private hospital, while the corpse to a mortuary located in Ipara.
