Sad! Man Hacks Mother-In-Law To Death In Kebbi

A 42-year-old man in Kebbi State, Tambaya Manu has reportedly hacked his mother-in-law with a cutlass over a quarrel with his wife.

The man, who was also killed immediately by angry villagers, it was learnt, also inflicted cutlass wounds on his father-in-law and two other family members of his wife before he was overpowered.

It was gathered that Manu had a disagreement with his wife which forced her to relocate to her parent’s house.

A witness who spoke under anonymity said when efforts to resolve the marital crisis proved abortive, he went into his in-law’s house, dragged his wife out and when the family members attempted to restrain him, he drew his cutlass and hacked his mother-in-law to death.

The mother-in-law, Aisah Barto, 40, was a resident at Bangu village near Mahuta in Fakai LGA of the state.

She was hacked to death over her refusal to allow Manu take away her daughter whom he divorced a month ago, the witness said.

Another villager told our correspondent: “He also attacked two other members of the family but they were rescued by their neighbors. When he was making efforts to escape, people around overpowered him and he was killed.”

When contacted, Kebbi State police spokesman, DSP Mustapha Suleiman, confirmed the incident. He said before the police arrived, people have deserted the village.

“Two people died in the incident, the mother-in-law and the son-in-law who is the husband to her daughter,” he added.
