Nigeria’s most revered comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly referred to as Alibaba has reacted to the trending video where Senior Pastor of Foundation of Truth Assembly, Reverend Yomi Kasali, where the spiritual leader slammed comedians and other pastors who permit standup comedy in their congregation.
In the video, Reverend Kasali frowned at comedians using churches as their comedy stage whereas berated other pastors that allowed it.
He also aforementioned that the day a Christian laughs at a comedian cracking a joke abusing God or men of God, then such an individual isn’t any longer a Christian.
In a swift response posted on his Instagram, Alibaba submitted that humor was God sent and that there’s nothing wrong with a sense of humor within the Christian setting. Alibaba wrote further saying
“The downside is permitting folks that don’t understand the boundaries of hilarity to desecrate the sacred institutions and it’s custodians. Humour is God sent.”Read his full post below:
I agree completely. No comedian ought to do any joke that mocks God. God can’t be mocked. Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon his name) and the Holy Spirit are also in this exclusive no mock zone.
After that, everyone else is an easy pick. Men of God and Men from God can also be excluded from the mock zone. However, any man of God who has become aloof from God, has fallen into our hands. oh by the way… just as jokes are a tool in entertainment and criticism, they were tools back in the days. they’re like parables.
Jesus of Nazareth used tons of these parables. If Jesus Christ were in our clime and time, he would have used jokes likewise. I hear jokes from @pauladefarasin @tonyrapu #jesseduplanti @Bishoptdjakes #BensonIdahosa @pastorituaighodalo @creflodollar #thePope #CardinalOkojie #PastorEAAdeboye #bishopKuka… these men of God can offer any comedian a run for their money.
They use humor to get their messages across. In fact, a number of the best and cleanest jokes can be gleaned from the pulpit. because those jokes can be told anywhere. However, IF a man OF GOD DOESNT HAVE THE anointing OF SENSE OF HUMOUR… it’ll BE onerous FOR THAT TO BE HIS point OF STRENGTH. So, expectedly, he won’t see the value in using it or seeing it used. Just as a pastor who can’t sing might not apply songs to his teachings.
Like I said @yomi_kasali has a point. Up to a point. That’s my point.
