Man Kills His Ex- Girlfriend & Her Mother

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend and her mother at home following a three-day manhunt.

Janbaz Tarin, from Sparkhill, Birmingham, appeared before magistrates in Birmingham, accused of killing Raneem Oudeh, 22, and 49-year-old Khaola Saleem.

The mother and daughter were stabbed outside Ms Saleem’s home in Northdown Road, Solihull, just after 12.30am on Bank Holiday Monday.

Neighbours described hearing the victims ‘scream like animals’ after the attack. Tarin, who was married to Ms Oudeh under Islamic law, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Wearing grey joggers and a sweatshirt and flanked by three dock officers, he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.

Chairman of the bench Patrick Wing told him the matter was too serious and must be dealt with at Crown Court.

Tarin was arrested on Thursday evening in the Sparkhill area of Birmingham after going on the run for four days.

Dramatic CCTV footage showed the moment officers chased him through an alleyway and finally managed to capture him.

He is seen shaking his head several times before being led away in handcuffs.

Witnesses told how they saw him ‘moaning and groaning’ on the ground after he was pepper sprayed in the face.

His arrest came four days after his ex-girlfriend and mother were stabbed just yards from their home.

A post-mortem examination ruled the two women died from multiple stab wounds.

West Midlands Police offered a £5,000 award to track him down after the suspect allegedly went into hiding.

Tarin was remanded in custody to appear at the city’s crown court on Tuesday.
