Police Arraign Student For Allegedly Stealing ATM
Police on Tuesday arraigned a student, John Chukwu, 20, who allegedly stole an ATM card belonging to his neighbour and withdrew N150,000 in a Kuje Upper Area Court in the FCT.
The police, charged Chukwu, who resides at Shadadi Area in Kuje Area Council with two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Mercy Olagunkoye, said that one Amaka Okham, of the same address with the accused, reported the matter at the Kuje Police Station on Sept. 2.
According to Olagunkoye, the accused entered the complainant’s house when she was at work and stole her ATM card.
She added that on the same day the complaint discovered that N150, 000 had been withdrawn from her account.
Besides, the prosecutor said during investigation it was discovered that Chukwu committed the offence.
She said that the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the penal code.
After the charges were read to Chulwu, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Judge, Malam Abdulahi Abdulkareem, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties in like sum.
Abdulkareem adjourned the case until Sept. 18 for hearing.
