I Became Burglars’ Informant Due To Poor Salary
Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested two suspected burglars of a house at Gado Nasko Street in Zarumai Quarters Minna, the state capital.
The suspects – Ishiaku Mohammed, 20, and Salisu Sunisi,17 – both of Zarumai Quarters, allegedly broke into the home of one Sadiq Muazu, of the same area and carted away valuable items.
They have, however, been arrested. Northern City News gathered on Tuesday that Sunisi, who works as security guard opposite the burgled house, hatched the plan and invited his accomplices to carry out the operation.
Sunisi said, “As a security guard, I know when people in my area go to work and the likely time they would come back; so, I seized the opportunity to call my accomplices to rob the house.”
Sunisi explained that the N5,000 salary he was being paid was inadequate to meet his financial responsibilities.
“My salary was not enough for me, it will not take me anywhere; I owe a lot of people and my salary cannot sort it out, so I had to look for other means to settle my debts, “ he said.
He also told Punch correspondent that one Usman and Umar now at large were also members of the gang.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident.
Abubakar said that operatives recovered from the suspects one small makeup box, one yellow card, a briefcase containing some documents, five passports and two standing fans.
He said that the matter would be charged to court after investigation.
