Why Imo Women And Youths Have Declare War On Oshiomhole
Women and youths in Imo State have accused the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, of being responsible for the botched primaries in the state.
The women and youths, who marched and barricaded the roads in the state yesterday, accused Oshiomhole of impunity and high handedness, and vowed that they will not fold their arms and watch the national chairman of the party destroy APC in the state.
The South East leader for Buhari Campaign Organisation, Ugochi Okoro, who spoke on behalf of the women, noted that most of the current members of the party left their former parties for the same reasons witnessed in APC today.
“Oshiomhole should go back to his cocoon; we will not allow him destroy APC. This is the party where our governor was called all manner of names, today, same people want to hijack the party and we say no.
“Oshiomole should leave the party for us, Okorocha is our leader and we still stand by our president for second term; Imo youths will not stop supporting Uche Nwosu and Buhari, likewise we the women.”
Earlier, the South East Secretary General for Buhari Campaign Organisation, Charles Amadi, called on President Buhari to call Oshiomhole to order and said the national chairman’s action is capable of destabilising the party.
Speaking shortly after the protest, the state chairman of APC, Daniel Nwafor, who said he tried to stop the protest, but was overpowered by angry youths and women, equally appealed to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to, as a matter of urgency, look into the demands of the protesters.
Nwafor gave the grievances of the protesters as substitution of four names of candidates, who won the election supervised by the Ibrahim Agbabiaka-led electoral committee with that of the dissolved Ahmed Gulak-led committee.
