Imam Dies During Buhari’s Victory Party In Adamawa
A deputy Imam has been killed in an accident in Mubi, Adamawa State during a celebration rally for the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at last Saturday’s presidential poll.
Residents reported that a firewood trader who deputised for the Imam of one of the mosques in Shuwari quarters died on Wednesday from injuries he sustained in an accident during the celebrations.
Malam Adamu, an elderly man was crossing the road when a group of youths celebrating the electoral victory drove carelessly on tricycles and frightened him, forcing him to step backward only to be hit by another passing tricycle which was not part of the rally.
Witnesses said the tricycle that hit him was driven by an elderly man who was also trying to avoid collision with others participating in the rally.
“The man was buried today (Wednesday) and the funeral was attended by the driver,” an eyewitness, Faruk Mubi told Daily Trust.
“It was not intentional because both the victim and the driver where running away from danger.
“Government should do something to control such celebrations”, a resident, Faruk Mubi said.
This comes after soldiers shot a young man in Numan on Tuesday after youths celebrating the outcome of presidential election allegedly harassed motorists.
