NUC Approves 3 New Universities For Imo

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved another three new universities for Imo State barely three weeks after it approved a university of agriculture and environmental sciences for the state.

The approved institutions which bring to six the number of state universities in Imo State are University of Creative Technology, Omuma, University of Medical Sciences, Ogboko and University of Science and Technology, Onuimo.

Speaking at a meeting to convey the approval to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday in Abuja, Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, said the institutions have met all the requirements for recognition.

Prof. Abubakar Rasheed said the commission would work out a new curriculum for the new universities as most programmes the institutions will run are innovative and would require a massive input of NUC.
