Oduduru Breaks Sub 10s Record In Big-12 Championships, Qualifies For Olympics


Nigerian-born superstar athlete, Divine Oduduru has qualified for the Olympics as he broke the Sub 10s record in the Big-12 Championships.

The 22-year-year athlete ran past the line in 9.99s (+0.3), ahead of Joseph Sheffield who finished 2nd in 10.29s and Micaiah Harris in 10.34s. Divine Oduduru who qualified for the Olympics as he broke the Sub 10s record in the Big-12 Championships, was said to be the favorite in the race.

His 100m final erased the Big-12 Record held by Prezel Hardy Jr. at 10.03s and also doubles as the Stadium Record, taking down a long-term one held by John Garrison since 1976, pegged at 10.04s. Oduduru ran a sub 10 seconds at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas last month.

The Delta-born also ran the second leg in the 4x100m alongside his team mates Andrew Hudson, Keion Sutton and Jacolby Shelton, to set a new School Record (SR) of 38.83s and a new Big-12 Record.The same quartet set the previous record earlier in the season at the Texas Relays. It is the fourth time in as many Big-12 Championships, the Texas Tech men’s team hoisted the team trophy as dominant victors over the rest of the conference.
