Harry Potter trio offer support to trans people following author J.K. Rowling's tweets

Harry Potter stars Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch and Emma Watson have come out in support of their trans fans after the author of the boy wizard books came under fire this week for questionable tweets that were tagged transphobic by activists.
J.K. Rowling, who claims to be a victim of domestic abuse and sexual assault, was challenging new laws in Scotland that will make it easier for people to change their gender.
She wrote: "If sex isn't real, there's no same-sex attraction. If sex isn't real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives."
Her comments were challenged by Eddie Redmayne and Daniel Radcliffe - the stars of her Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter movie adaptations - and now Lynch, Wright and Watson are wading in to the dbbate.
"If Harry Potter was a source of love and belonging for you, that love is infinite and there to take without judgment or question. Transwomen are Women. I see and love you," Bonnie tweeted, while Irish actress Lynch added she was "so saddened to see trans people feeling abandoned by the HP (Harry Potter) community".
"I imagine that being trans and learning to accept and love yourself is challenging enough, and we as a society should not be adding to that pain."
But although Evanna didn't agree with the author, she wasn't about to attack her, adding: "I think she’s on the wrong side of this debate, but that doesn’t mean she has completely lost her humanity."
Meanwhile, Watson revealed she had donated to U.K. charity Mermaids and Mama Cash, which both support the LGBTQ+ community, writing: "Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are. I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are."
On Wednesday, Rowling attempted to defend her controversial Twitter posts about sex and transgender people, revealing she was approaching the subject as a sex assault survivor.
She published a lengthy essay on her website, seeking to clarify her point of view, and writing: "I'm mentioning these things now not in an attempt to garner sympathy, but out of solidarity with the huge numbers of women who have histories like mine, who've been slurred as bigots for having concerns around single-sex spaces.
"If you could come inside my head and understand what I feel when I read about a trans woman dying at the hands of a violent man, you'd find solidarity and kinship. I have a visceral sense of the terror in which those trans women will have spent their last seconds on earth, because I too have known moments of blind fear when I realised that the only thing keeping me alive was the shaky self-restraint of my attacker."
She went on to insist she supports genuine members of the transgender community, but felt the need to speak out amid fears Scottish lawmakers are "playing fast and loose with women's and girls' safety".
"The current explosion of trans activism is urging a removal of almost all the robust systems through which candidates for sex reassignment were once required to pass," she shared. "A man who intends to have no surgery and take no hormones may now secure himself a Gender Recognition Certificate and be a woman in the sight of the law. Many people aren't aware of this."
