Anambra accident claims female motorcycle passenger

female motorcycle passenger has been confirmed dead in an accident involving a bus and a motorcycle in Anambra State.

The accident occurred in Ichida in Igboukwu, along Igboukwu-Nnewi road in Auguata Local Government Area of Anambra.

This was disclosed by Mr Andrew Kumapayi, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra. Kumapayi confirmed the incident to newsmen in Awka on Wednesday. Further, he revealed that the accident occurred at about 3 pm.

Equally important, Kumapayi noted that the accident was caused by over-speeding and loss of control. The FRSC boss disclosed that a total of four persons – three male adults and a female; were involved in the accident while one of them died in the crash.

“The crash involved a white Toyota bus with registration number AHH 605 RM and a Sanya Motorcycle without a registration number. According to eyewitnesses, the bus driver, speeding excessively, lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the motorcycle.

“The female passenger of the motorcycle died on the spot while the motorcyclist and two others in the bus were injured. The victims were rushed to the Apex Hospital, Igboukwu, by FRSC rescue team from Igboukwu Unit Command; while the body of the dead was deposited at the morgue,” he said.

While condoling with the family of the dead; Kumapayi urged motorists to desist from over-speeding and drive in line with the speed limits stipulated by law.

Meanwhile, a survivor of the Sosoliso plane crash that occurred in 2005; Kechi Okwuchi, has taken a walk down memory lane and decided to encourage people by sharing her near-death experience on Twitter.

According to the singer, the story of how she survived a plane crash; and how she is still living with the burns and scars is enough to encourage and keep anyone going, no matter what the person is going through in life.

Kechi’s tweet reads;

“Smiling through it all.

I know I’ve come a long way, but reminders like this pic from 14 years ago really drive it home for me…

I hope this encourages someone.

No matter what you’re currently going through, if you’re not dead, God’s not done. Periodt.”
