'He Cannot Be Happy With His Club,' Deschamps Reveals Pogba’s Issues At Manchester United

France  head coach Didier Deschamps on Monday said Paul Pogba "cannot be happy" with his current situation at Manchester United.

Ahead of France's friendly match against Finland, Deschamps told reporters during a press conference that Pogba, who was hit hard after testing positive for coronavirus in September, needs to get his rhythm and fitness back.

"[Pogba] hadn't played for a while. He is in a situation with his club where he cannot be happy either with his playing time or with his positioning. He is not having the best of time. He has had injuries. He was hit quite hard by [a coronavirus positive test in September]. He needs to get his rhythm and his fitness back. Last month, he had a good game [for France] despite a lack of rhythm," said Deschamps at the press conference.

Pogba did not start in five out of Manchester United's last seven games. Overall, out of the club's 11 matches across all competitions in the 2020-21 campaign, Pogba featured in the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-led side's starting XI only five times.

There have been speculations about Solskjaer's job at Old Trafford being at risk as the Red Devils have not had the best of starts this season. Having played seven matches in the Premier League, Man Utd are placed 14th in the table. Before defeating Everton 3-1 in an away fixture, Man Utd lost 1-0 to Arsenal at home, where Pogba blamed his "stupid mistake" for his side's loss.

Deschamps, with whom Pogba shares a strong bond on and off the field, added that he had no issues with the star midfielder.

"He has played since but we can't say that he is satisfied. With me, there are no problems, I will look after him. It is never easy for a player in his position. I will speak to him. I know him well. Things will go well, even if he always has to perform as well as possible," said Deschamps.

Under Deschamps, Pogba made his international debut in 2013 and the Man Utd midfielder was a key figure in France's 2018 FIFA World Cup title run, scoring in the final against Croatia.
