The Nation of Nigeria is experiencing an unrest like no other in its recent history. Every part of the nation is dealing with insecurity issues, whether it is Boko Haram or Banditry, Fulani Herdsmen or the activities of the illegal Eastern Security Network. The Robbery and kidnapping rates are also very alarming and the country' s security forces have had their hands filled as they try to fight the various insurgency.
The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has stated that the recent unrest going all over the nation is nothing short of terrorism whether it is banditry or kidnapping. The Ekiti State Governor was on a visit to another Nigerian Governor when he released the statement.
Kayode Fayemi who also doubles as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum paid a visit to Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello on Tuesday 23rd of February 2021. Governor Kayode Fayemi' s statement is coming days after the kidnapping of some students and staff of the Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi Local Government in Niger State by bandits.
The Governor' s statement went thus; " What we are witnessing is terrorism, there is no other name for it. We may call it banditry, kidnaping, these are the remnants of the actors in the North- East that have found themselves in other parts of the country. Whether they are known as ISWAP, Shekau faction, they are remnants of what we are still dealing with in that part of Nigeria. That is why we must not treat the North- East in isolation of this problem. We are all victims as long as any section of our country is ravaged by this problem. "
It is becoming obvious that the recent unrest in Nigeria will not be stopping anytime soon, i just the President, Muhammadu Buhari is doing all he can to ensure the safety of Nigerian Citizens in the country.
