Fayemi urges youths to embrace agribusiness
Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi said yesterday that his administration had put in place machinery to contribute the state’s quota to national development by attracting $200 million investment in the agriculture sector.
He said the ventures, when fully operational, will provide jobs for more than 500,000 Ekiti people directly and indirectly, adding that these were parts of efforts to transform the state from being a civil servant economy to an agric-based industrialised economy.
Dr. Fayemi spoke at an interactive session with Ekiti youths with the theme: “Ekiti youths, let’s talk: Engaging youths in agribusiness”, at Adetiloye Hall, Ado-Ekiti.Fayemi, who presented a paper and sat through one of the sessions, also cut his birthday cake with young entrepreneurs. The event was equally attended by his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi and top government officials.
He said farm settlements and farm centres have been repositioned for massive harvest and processing, in order to feed the cargo airport upon completion so that Ekiti will become food basket in Nigeria and net exporter of semi-finished farm produce and products.

The governor, in a statement yesterday in Osogbo by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, described Fayemi as a vibrant leader.

The minister in a statement yesterday by his Special Assistant on Media, Ifedayo Sayo, described Fayemi as an administrator who has excelled in all positions held since his involvement in partisan politics.He listed the giant strides the state has achieved under the governor, saying Ekiti people, home and abroad are proud of the achievements of Dr. Fayemi both in his first and second term in office.
Senate Chief Whip Orji Kalu has felicitated with Dr. Fayemi on his 56th birthday anniversary.
Kalu, in statement yesterday in Abuja, described the governor as a true progressive, whose political ideology is anchored on probity, transparency and accountability.
