Gunmen Release PUNCH Reporter, Two Others
A Punch reporter, Mr. Okechukwu Nnodim, who was abducted by unknown gunmen at his residence in Arab road area of Kubwa, Abuja, last Wednesday, has been released.
MuchTalksBlog reports that the gunmen also freed two young men who are neighbours to Nnodim that were also kidnapped.
Speaking to The Sun, Oluchi, Nnodim’s wife, on Saturday night said: “My husband is back home and taking his bath. You can’t talk to him right now. Thank you for your support. We thank God for everything.”
The three men regained freedom at about 11 pm Saturday night after spending three nights in captivity.
Narrating her husband’s abduction Oluchi had said that Nnodim was working on his laptop when five strange men scaled the fence and entered their compound while ordering them to open the door.
She said the gunmen fired several shots at the windows and subsequently pulled down the burglary proof after which they forced open the front door.
“My husband asked me to stay with the children in their room. I heard the men asking him to bring out money but he told them he didn’t have money in the house,” Oluchi said.
“They took our phones and marched him out of the house. They went to our neighbour’s house and also abducted her two sons.”
