EFCC Boss, Bawa Opens Up On Dizzy Spell
The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has revealed why he felt dizzy while he was giving a speech at the presidential villa in Abuja.
Bawa said his doctors attributed his dizziness to dehydration.
The EFCC boss stated this while speaking on Channels TV on Thursday evening, few hours after the incident.
MuchTalksBlog had reported that Bawa reportedly slumped and was rushed out of the Presidential Villa, Abuja while giving his goodwill message at the National Identity Day celebration.
He said; “While giving my goodwill message during the programme organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), there was a sort of dizziness on me and I had to excuse myself from the stage.
“And of course I went straight to the hospital where the doctors confirmed to me that everything about me is okay except for the fact that I’m a bit dehydrated and need to take a lot of water.
“Straight away from the hospital, I went back to the office and now I’m back at home.”
Bawa also reacted to the decision of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop the sale of foreign exchange (FX) to bureau de change (BDCs) operators in the country. Speaking, he said
“It is a laudable policy that we are working with the central bank with open arms, nobody stops the operations of BDC in this country,” he said.
The policy is about stopping the giving of cash to BDC, and that monies that hitherto are being given to the BDC are now going to be given to financial institutions for them to distribute to those Nigerians that are in need of them.”
