One killed, six arrested as Osun rival gangs clash
Six suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the mayhem that occurred in Ikire, Osun state where a yet-to-be-identified man was killed.
It was learnt that two rival cults in the town clashed around the Sango area following a disagreement.
According to PUNCH, a source said that a group of hoodlums had approached a shop owner and demanded money.
It was gathered that after the first group was paid and left the shop, another set approached the woman for money, but she refused.
“The woman later called members of the first group that she settled and they came around and engaged the second group. It was a free-for-all. One person was shot dead. The woman’s shop was also attacked,” the source added.
The police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the death of one person said, “One person was shot dead but normalcy has returned to the area. We have arrested six suspects in connection with the crisis. We are also going after others mentioned as having played roles in the incident.”
