South Sudan’s president names Moses Makur Deng as central bank head
Moses Makur Deng has been appointed as the new Central Bank Governor replacing Dier Tong Ngor, this is according to a state television address by South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir’s press secretary.
No reason was given for the changes. Makur previously worked as the director-general for bank supervision, research, and statistics at the central bank.
Under Tong’s leadership, the bank introduced wide-ranging reforms to the financial markets last April, including a requirement that commercial banks quote a single foreign exchange rate to limit market distortions.
