Guardiola singles out 4 Real Madrid players, reveals next action after Man City’s elimination
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, singled out four Real Madrid players during his post-match press conference following his team’s Champions League semi-final defeat to the LaLiga champions on Wednesday: Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Vinicius and Karim Benzema.
Guardiola also disclosed Man City’s next move following their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.
Man City were defeated by Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite a brace from Rodrygo and a strike from Benzema.
Riyad Mahrez scored for the Premier League champions, who fell 6-5 on aggregate after winning 4-3 in the first leg last week at the Etihad.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Guardiola said: “It is simple. In the first-half we didn’t have a game, we were not good enough. But we didn’t suffer much. After we scored the goal we were better. We found out the tempo and our game and the players were comfortable.”
“It’s not like in the last 10 minutes they attack and attack and you suffer. It didn’t happen. They put a lot of players in the box, with Militao, Rodrygo, Vinicius, Benzema and they put in crosses and scored two goals.
“Now we need to process that and come back, with our people at home and the last four games we have.”
