Lagos court sends artisan to prison for raping employer’s wife

In Lagos State, one Qudus Kazeem has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Center for allegedly raping his employer’s wife.

Kazeem, a 27-year-old tiler, was remanded by a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant is standing trial for four-count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse, threat to life, obtaining money under false pretences, and stealing.

He was said to have committed the offences sometime in December 2022, at No, 8/10, Kola John, off Feyintola Giwa St., Surulere, Lagos.

Magistrate Mrs Sanusi Adagun, who remanded the defendant following his arraignment, asked the prosecutor to send a copy of the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Reuben Solomon, told the court that the defendant, who was employed to lay tiles in the apartment of one Mr Damilare Gbadamosi, left his work and forced himself on his employer’s wife.

According to him, the defendant threatened to ruin the victim’s marriage if she did not send money to him or willingly have intercourse with him.

Solomon said the alleged offences contravened sections 56 (1) (a), 260, 280 and 314 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Adagun adjourned the case until Dec. 18 for mention, NAN reports.
