African Woman With 1.16 Kilos Of Heroin In Her Stomach Nabbed At Bangkok Airport

Doobay Mimengaloso, an African woman in transit to China was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday, after an X-ray found pellets of heroin inside her stomach.

The Zambian lady was intercepted at gate D3 on the second floor at Suvarnabhumi, after alert officials noticed her suspicious behavior. The officials who searched Mimengaloso’s bag found nothing, but an X-Ray revealed she had swallowed 88 pellets of a substance.

When the African woman finished in the toilet, 1.16 kilos of heroin worth a million baht in Thailand but several times more in China was recovered.

The Zambian woman who had an onward ticket to Beijing but came to Thailand from her home country via Kenya, has been handed over to the drug authorities for prosecution even though Thai authorities were sure that Thailand was just a transit point for her.

This is coming after a South African woman was also arrested in Thailand, for allegedly smuggling cocaine into the country. The 34-year-old was caught with seven kilograms of cocaine in her luggage.

She was arrested after the Thai customs department received a tip-off that a foreign national planned to smuggle drugs into Thailand. The cocaine had been stashed in chocolate boxes.

The accused has denied any knowledge of the drugs, claiming instead that she had travelled to Thailand to buy clothes to sell in South Africa. She told authorities that a friend had given her the chocolate boxes to pass on to a fellow South African in Thailand. Thai officials addressed a news conference about the arrest.

A 34-year-old Nigerian man, Charles Ndubuisi Umemma, described as one of the most notorious drug barons in Asia, was also arrested by Narcotic officials from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau [NSB], during a raid in Thailand few months ago.

According to Thai News, Umemma who has been elusive for many years and had been declared wanted on a court-ordered arrest warrant, was arrested in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district during a raid where over 10 other drug dealers including Nigerians, were arrested.
