5 Car Snatcher Arrested In Delta
Men of Nigeria Police ‘B’ Division in Warri, Delta State has arrested five suspected car thieves who specialize in car snatching in Warri and its environs.
The names of the suspects were given as Otite Efemena, Ochuko Ejiata, Oteme Ogbemigeye, and Ojdyewe Oghenetaga.
It was learnt that one of the suspects, Ifunaya Amadike, who was said to be on drugs, died in an undisclosed hospital in Warri.
The suspects were arrested by the police on June 20, 2018, at the popular estate in Effurun near Warri after they allegedly snatched a Toyota Highlander SUV on June 18 in Ugborikoko axis of Warri in the late evening.
A senior police officer disclosed this much in a chat with our correspondent today.
It was gathered that the suspects abandoned the vehicle at Eboh road when the vehicle stopped due to the security system installed on it and quickly snatched a black Toyota Corolla car.
According to the source, “On their way to Ajamimogha, the car also failed and they snatched a Honda Pilot jeep and were later intercepted in the night by vigilante where they ran and abandoned the jeep.
“Army uniforms and gun were recovered from them when they were arrested.”
The Police source, however, stated that the Honda Pilot and the Toyota Corolla car have been found while efforts was on to recover the Highlander SUV, stressing that the suspects have confessed and admitted to the crime.
The Police source added that Oghenetega confessed to having purchased a Delta Government vehicle plate number at the cost of N100,000.00.
