Super Eagles Striker Odion Ighalo Plead Nigerians After Blunder Against Argentina
Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo has tendered his sincere apology to Nigerians over his missed chances cost Nigeria a massive defeat against Argentina on Tuesday Night.
In a chat after the encounter in Saint Petersburg, Ighalo said he is indeed sorry for the missed chances even though it was a teamwork.
Ighalo missed a one-on-one seven minutes from time, with Armani keeping out the shot down low, and Etebo then sent a free-kick into the side-netting as the South Americans were left badly exposed at the back.
“Playing in the World Cup is the dream of every player”
“Representing close to 200million Nigerians at the Mundial is also something to be proud of”
“I feel disappointed that we could not advance into the second round”
“And I am here apologizing to Nigerians and my teammates over the chance I missed”
“I understand we could have progressed if I finished perfectly”
“I take the blame for everything that went wrong” Ighalo added.
Ighalo also volleyed a Rojo clearance inches wide, but Nigeria’s players felt that a penalty should have been awarded for handball against the versatile defender as he headed the ball into his own arm.
Argentina will now face France in Kazan on Saturday afternoon.
