Lady Faces Law Court After Stealing From Mother To Satisfy Boyfriend

A student of the Eldoret based Moi University, Kenya Moi University, Kenya Cynthia Cherop has confessed to have takenSh70,000 from her mother’s 2 bank accounts, that she entirely spent on her lover.

Ms. Cherop pleaded guilty to stealing the money from Barclays and National banks before spending it with Josephat Ng’ang’a. She has told a court session that she bought second hand (mitumba) clothes for her business.

Barclay’s Bank’s CCTV captured the two lovebirds leaving the bank after withdrawing the money. The boyfriend would later threaten the mother of his girlfriend (Mrs. Milka Chebosisi Sitati) of thorough beating if she would talk of it.

Ng’ang’a denied the attempts of assaulting Ms. Cherop’s mother and was released on a Sh30,000 cash bail.

Chief magistrate Francis Andayi said it was unfortunate that the accused stole the money to spend with her boyfriend whom her mother did not approve of.

However, two of Ms. Sitati’s brothers pleaded with the court to release Cherop to them since her mother did not want to see her. They said they wanted her to continue attending college.

State prosecutor Solomon Naulikha asked the court to treat the accused as a first offender and was not opposed to her being ordered to serve probation term.
