“Í Will Continue To Make Controversial Music” — Falz

Nigerian rapper comedian and actor Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz has promised to continue to make controversial music.

The “This is Nigeria” crooner, who recently won an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), in a recent interview said that he is currently working on a music album where all the tracks will be as contentious and norm-breaking.

Folarin Falana (born October 27, 1990, in Lagos State), better known by his stage name Falz is a Nigerian rapper, actor, and songwriter. He began his career while in secondary school after forming a group called “The School Boys” with his friend before his professional career as a music artist began in 2009. Falz shot into limelight after his song titled “Marry Me” (featuring vocals from Poe and Yemi Alade) won him a nomination in the “Best Collaboration of The Year” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

He was also nominated in the “Best Rap Act of The Year” and “Best New Act to Watch” categories at the same event. He currently owns an independent record label called Bahd Guys Records. Falz said there is the need to tell stories through conscious music and he is set to take his controversial music to a new level.

“Right now I’m making a lot of controversial music. It’s always going to be like that, people are always going to get angry when you make that sort of music but those stories need to be told,” he said.

Falz said it is important for artists to project the truth in their songs and in the right direction, despite mixed reactions. “People need to hear our voices; our voices need to be projected in the positive direction as artists.

“It is something I will continue to do, I’m working on a fully conscious album which is dropping very soon,” he said.
