Real Madrid Sign New £950m 10-Year Sponsorship Deal With Adidas

Real Madrid have agreed a world record 10-year deal with Adidas which will become the most lucrative shirt deal in the history of football .

Real have have had their kits made continuously by Adidas since 1998, although their first involvement came in 1981 – before the La Liga side switched to Hummel in 1986 and then latterly with Kelme ..

According to Marca, Real and Adidas will continue to be linked until 2028 with a massive €1.1billion deal set to be announced.

The deal would be a world record deal as it dwarfs Manchester United’s £750million deal with Adidas which was signed in 2013.

It would also top the £140million El Clasico rivals Barcelona pick up a year from Nike.

The cash will come in handy as Real Madrid look to redevelop their Bernabeu stadium.

Marca said: “To put this in perspective, and compare it with Nike in the NBA, who kit out all the 21 teams for $1 billion over eight years. In other words $125 million, or €110 million a season for 21 teams which is the same that Adidas will pay for just Real Madrid.”

Since being sponsored by Adidas, Real have won six La Liga titles, and six Champions League crowns – including three in their last three seasons.

Nike and Under Armour were also keen to pinch the lucrative contract from Adidas but Real’s loyalty paid off for the German giants.

Along with Adidas, Real receive €70m a year from Fly Emirates as their main shirt sponsor, which is higher than the amount Barca and United get from Rakuten and Chevrolet, respectively.

The new deal could usher in a new era of big spending at the Bernabeu – with the Madrid-based side failing to splash out in recent transfer windows.

Real were relatively quiet this summer with Vinicius Junior, Thibaut Courtois , Alvaro Odriozola and Mariano Diaz their showpiece signings.
