Azpilicueta Commits Future To Chelsea
As the January transfer window beckons and more clubs continue to chase many of Chelsea players, the team is ensuring that they keep their top players around as long as possibles and one of such players is Cesar Azpilicueta who has been offered a new deal expected to be worth around £150,000 per week and extending his spell at the club until 2022.
The current deal is worth £120,000 a week and runs out in 2020.
Although he has two years left to run on his present contract, the team don’t want to take chances and have decided to to retain his services for the long term.
The Spanish international joins Marcos Alonso and N’Golo Kante in signing a new Chelsea contract recently.
Marcos Alonso signed a new five year deal worth £150,000 per week in October and at the end of November, French international N’Golo Kante put pen to paper on a five year deal which will see him earning £290,000 per week.
Azpilicueta has been an integral part of the Chelsea team since he joined in 2012.
He played every single game in the 2016-17 season, and 37 out of 38 games in 2017-18 and 2015-16, with only one of those appearances coming as a substitute.
With over 6 years in west London, he has helped the team win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup, and a Europa League trophy.
The Blues are currently third in the Premier League, having conceded 11 goals in 13 games, giving them one of the best defensive records in the league.
