Ballon d’Or 2018: Cristiano Ronaldo Hits Another Impressive Milestone Despite Missing The Ballon d'Or

CRISTIANO RONALDO has bagged another milestone missing out on Ballon d’Or glory.

The ex-Real Madrid ace, who move to Juventus in the summer, bagged the Old Lady’s second goal in their 3-0 win over Fiorentina this weekend.

His strike made him only the third player to score in five successive Serie A away game this century.

The Portuguese superstar also equalled a 61-year-old Juve record.

He became the first player to score 10 goals or more after 14 games in his debut Serie A campaign.

Despite the impressive statistics, Ronaldo is expected to miss out on the Ballon d’Or tonight.

Real Madrid ace Luka Modric is the bookies’ hot favourite to secure glory after he helped guide Croatia to the World Cup final in Russia.

A leaked image of the results suggest Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will finish second.

It’s claimed Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann will then finish third.

After his disappointing showing with Argentina in the summer, Lionel Messi isn’t a contender for a top-three place.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde admits he’s shocked by the rumours.

"It surprises me as much as anyone else," he said.

"Messi's been named the best player in the Champions League this season after the first, second and fifth round of fixtures - and he didn't play in the third and fourth games because he was injured.

“That's not us saying that, either, it's [an award] picked by UEFA.

“It's a little strange he is not in the running.

"To those that are among the final three, congratulations.

"Everyone is free to think what they want, but it is strange, yes [that Messi is not shortlisted]."

Ronaldo - who has scored over 500 career goals - has made no secret of his desire to win the Ballon d’Or again.

"I said many times, winning a sixth Ballon d'Or is not an obsession," the Portuguese legend told France Football.

"And I do not ask the question in these terms. I already know, in my heart, that I am one of the best players in history."
