Man Critically Injured In Dublin Shooting
A man is in critical condition following the latest gun attack in west Dublin.
The victim, aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene after suffering gun shot wounds.
The shooting happened in the Huntstown area of Blanchardstown, earlier this evening.
A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaà and emergency services are at the scene of a shooting incident at Blakestown Road, Dublin 15. A man in his 20s is being treated at the scene for what appear to be gunshot wounds. The incident was reported shortly after 5pm.
“A silver BMW 3 Series car was later discovered on fire at Saddlers Grove, Mulhuddart. Gardaà believe that this car was involved in the shooting. Both areas have been sealed off and a technical examination is being carried out by Garda Crime Scene Examiners.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000.
"We are appealing for anyone who was in the Blakestown Road or the Saddlers Grove area between 4.30pm and 5.30pm to contact us. We are also appealing for anyone who was driving in the area and may have dash-cam footage to contact us. Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000."
The injured man was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he is being treated for gunshot wounds.
Last December, father of two Eric Fowler, was shot dead outside his home in nearby Blakestown.
The latest shooting follows a number of incidents in the nearby Corduff area, most recently, last month, when images of gunmen on the estate, including men opening fire, were captured and circulated online and in the media.
There have been a series of shootings in the locality.
Soon after the images emerged gardaà seized four shotguns in a search operation targeting the gangs.
There have been three gangland murders this year.
Last Friday, David Lynch, also known as David Chen, was shot dead outside his home in the Ronanstown area of Clondalkin, west Dublin.
