Osinbajo Denies Deal To Leave PDP In Power
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has distanced himself from alleged agreement purported to have been made with Abia State government to reserve the state and some other states for the incumbent governors who are members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in exchange for presidential votes.
Describing such insinuations as untrue, the Vice President said Abia is a very important state to be captured by the All Progressives Congress (APC) come this week governorship election.
Professor Osinbajo stated this in Aba, while answering questions from the members of his party during his town hall meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the party ahead of the governorship election coming up at the weekend.
When asked that stakeholders in PDP had been saying that he (Osinbajo) has an agreement with the governor to reserve the state for PDP in exchange for presidential votes, following his frequent visits to the state, and often welcome by top government officials without allowing party members to venue.
Osinbajo said he visited Abia frequently because of the centrality and importance of the state, adding that it is the leading state for micro, Small and medium scale Enterprises, noting that Abia was the first state where the FG launched the SME clinic.
“This state is very important to us. One of the reasons why APC members were unable to benefit directly from the school feeding program in Abia State for example is that, the State is not controlled by the APC,” he said.
Responding to why he was not at Abia APC Mega rally, he said he cannot be at the same place with the president for security reasons, except in the Vila.
