‘Smallville’ Actress Allison Mack Pleads Guilty To Involvement In “Sex Cult”

The 36-year-old actress was charged with a series of offences including racketeering, extortion and false labour. She has also been charged with a number of offences relating to sex trafficking and is said to have recruited “sex slaves” for NXIVM’s former leader, Keith Raniere.

Raniere was arrested in Mexico last year and charged with sex trafficking and forced labour conspiracy. He has previously denied the allegations.

NXIVM publicly portrayed itself as a self-help organisation, self-described as “a community guided by humanitarian principles that seek to empower people and answer important questions about what it means to be human.”

Mack, who is best known for her role as Clark Kent’s friend Chloe Sullivan in Smallville , appeared in Brooklyn Federal Court today (April 8) alongside five other defendants involved in the federal racketeering indictment that was filed last year against members of the cult group.

Pleading guilty, Mack told the court: “I’m here to plead guilty before your honour. I must take full responsibility for my conduct. I am very sorry for my role in this case.”

She continued: “I am very sorry to my family and to the good people I hurt through my misguided adherence to Keith Raniere’s teachings.”

According to federal prosecutors, some women in the Albany based secret organisation were reportedly branded with the initials of their former leader and forced to have sex with him.

Prosecutors have said that the women who joined NXIVM’s secret sorority were warned that the damaging or embarrassing information they volunteered would be made public if they revealed the existence of the society.

Mack confessed to recruiting young women for Raniere as well as owning her own personal sex slave.

Prior to this hearing, Mack had pleaded “not guilty” to the charges and had been released on a $5 million bail agreement.

Mack is due to be sentenced in September; the crime carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
