Ex-Lawmaker, Kenneth Nyong, Dies At 56
Kenneth Nyong, a former councillor and State Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom, is dead.
The 56-year-old died in the early hours of Thursday, June 18.
He passed away after a brief illness, caused by complications from an accident he had months earlier.
He was from Ikot Ekpene local government area.
State Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong announced Mr Nyong’s demise in a statement, saying he “was a dedicated officer of the party who worked tirelessly for the success of the party and the PDP-led government in the state”.
Mr Ememobong added that the State Chairman of the ruling Party, Mr Paul Ekpo, had sent his condolences to Mr Nyong’s family and the entire PDP.
“He was a very peaceful and humble person and will be greatly missed,” he said on Thursday, adding: “The deceased family will announce funeral arrangements in due course … This loss is painful. May God console us.”
Nyong holds an M.sc degree in Accounting from the University of Calabar, Cross River State. He served as councillor from 2008- 2011.
