Khafi Kareem of BBN Recounts Not Reporting Horrible Rape Ordeal

Big Brother Naija Pepper Dem housemate, Khafi Kareem has joined the ongoing conversation about sexual violence and not reporting it.

The actress and host shared her own ordeal, lending her voice to the #WhyIDidntReport hashtag; a trend of rape survivors sharing their stories and why many of them did not go to the authorities after the horrible event.

In Kareem’s case, she noted that the rapist apologised immediately after carrying out the dastardly act, citing his drunkenness as an excuse.

The 30-year-old said her rapist’s apology didn’t help her feeling any less dirty and ashamed  and the one person she was bold enough to share her experience with didn’t help in easing the burden either.

Khafi Kareem shared her story in the hopes that someone else will have the courage to do same. She requested that people do not deflect from the conversation or tell her that it isn’t her story to tell as sharing it was hard enough.
