Nigerian Model Blasts Beyonce For Taking Advantage Of Nigeria And Africa

Grammy award-winning American artist, Beyonce has come under heavy criticism from a Nigerian model who believes she is taking advantage of the rich culture of Africa, most especially Nigerian culture.

In a lengthy write-up, she acknowledged Queen B for doing good to Africans but reminded her that Africa is not a prop she could use at her convenient time.

“Africa is not some prop, you can’t come and pull from our culture from when it’s convenient. That’s appropriation. And not every time ‘we were kings’ pls some of us were palm wine tappers. We don’t wake up in the morning and tie our wrapper and put chalk on our face and scream ‘WAKANDA’ then go and hunt lions. We wake up and open twitter like the rest of the world. Pls stop pushing this old narrative bc later.

According to the model, Beyonce has tapped into the “Queen-mother” thing making her superhuman and untouchable on the African continent while she sits in America. She sounded a reminder to the Lion King producer that she is not above mistake and criticism. Africa has had enough of her appropriation and it has to stop.
