Naira Marley Arrested and Fined 100k for Flouting Covid-19 Rules
Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley was arrested by the men of the police force on Thursday for flouting the inter-state travel ban during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The singer and his manager had travelled to Abuja from Lagis and back on a private jet on June 8, 2020, where he performed at a druve through concert.
The Lagoss State Special Offences (Mobile) Court, Oshodi fined the ‘Inside Life’ crooner and his manager a N100,000 each on Thursday, August 6, after receiving their ‘Guilty’ plea to the charges.
A statement from the spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, said Naira Marley was arraigned alongside his Manager Seyi Awouga on a one-count charge of “breach of the cessation of movement and interstates travel order made by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under Regulation 4(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease Emergency Prevention) Regulation No 2 of 2020 and committed an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law, Ch. P16, Laws of Lagos State 2015”
