Court Remands 12-Year-Old Girl Who Said She Willingly Eloped With A 38-Year-Old Man

 

A 12-year-old girl has been remanded by a court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

She will be at the Port Harcourt Remand Home and this comes after she told the court that she willingly eloped and consented to se.xual relations with a 38-year-old identified as Alfred Chikere.

Per what we gathered, the girl spent over a month with the man. The man was reportedly sent to prison until he was granted bail.

He was slammed with two counts of abduction and defilement of a teenager and will be prosecuted under Section 361 of t he Criminal Code of the Rivers State Laws and this was after he allegedly camped this teenage girl in his house for up to a month before the parents launched a search for her whereabouts.

The Prosecutor, ASP Omorujia added that the man abducted the girl as a virgin and deflowered her through the one month he took her in.

However, the prosecutor stated that the girl clearly told the court that the accused was not her first boyfriend and that she willingly went to the man’s house to stay because she likes se.x.

It was also revealed that the girl’s mother had also reportedly collected N40,000 to discontinue the case, until an activist, John Millar, who is handling the matter informed the Center for Basic Rights And Accountability Campaign.
