Amazon expands Key in-garage grocery deliveries to 5,000 US locations

 

Two years ago, Amazon made it easier for its Prime customers to shop for groceries and receive their deliveries right at their garage through its Key service. It was originally launched in 50 cities; and late last year Amazon rolled it out to more than 4,000 cities across the US.

Today, Amazon announced yet another expansion for its in-garage grocery delivery service. Eligible Prime members across 5,000 cities and towns in the country can now get their grocery orders from Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods delivered inside their garage.

After placing your order, Amazon’s shopper will prepare your items and a courier will deliver the groceries to your address. Your garage must be equipped with a compatible garage door opener or myQ Smart Garage Hub. To let the delivery personnel in your garage, you must connect the myQ app with Key and choose “Key Delivery” at checkout.

In addition, you can check when the parcel arrives by viewing videos of your delivery; using a compatible Ring smart home camera or LiftMaster Smart Garage Camera. This also adds an extra layer of security.

For Prime members, the service comes at no additional cost. You can sign up for the service here and check if you’re eligible. And for a limited time only, Amazon is giving a $20 credit after your first in-garage grocery order.
