AU condemns terrorist attacks in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso
The President of the Commission of the African Union, (AU) Moussa Faki Mahamat, has condemned the terrorist attacks in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.
In a statement, the AU President said he had “learned with great dismay the terrorist attacks of recent days against the civilian populations in eastern Burkina Faso and in Mali which have killed dozens of people, and against the Niger Defense Forces, 16 of which lost their lives.”
Mahamat further welcomed the sacrifices and sustained efforts made by these countries to overcome terrorism and reaffirmed the determination of the African Union, in close collaboration with ECOWAS, the G5 Sahel and all Sahel partners, to accompany them in this courageous fight that they are leading.
On Monday, Suspected jihadists killed around 30 people in an attack in eastern Burkina Faso, in what would be one of the worst such attacks in the country’s history.
