Akwa Ibom Shuts School After Cultists Gave School Principal 24 Hours To Recall Suspended Members
Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board (SSEB), Dr. Ekaette Ebong Okon has announced the immediate closure of Uyo High School after some cultists have ordered the school principal to reinstate their suspended members within 24 hours or face the music.
Items believed to be fetish, including fresh pepper, palm oil drops, peeled cooked egg, palm fronds, red cloth, and N10 note, among others, were seen yesterday at the entrance to Mr. Michael Iwok’s office.
Similar items and several inscriptions were also seen at the entrance to Senior Secondary 3 classes.
It was gathered that trouble started when some students suspected to be cultists were recently suspended and some Senior Secondary Two students who could not meet up with the school requirements to be promoted to the next class.
The Nation reported that investigations reveal that on several occasions these two sets of students are responsible for the mayhem in the school.
