First Lady, Aisha Buhari deactivates Twitter account
First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, has joined in solidarity of her husband's decision to suspend Twitter. It was reported that Aisha Buhari, has deactivated her Twitter account.
Recall that yesterday, Federal Government announced its plan to suspend Twitter indefinitely from Nigeria. The suspension came after President Buhari's Tweet was deleted by Twitter.
Before deleting her Twitter account, she dropped a notice on the micro blogging application and it reads:
"I will be deactivating my Twitter account for now.
Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria."
The statement from FG reads: "PRESS RELEASE
"FG Suspends @Twitter Operations in Nigeria. The Federal Government has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.
"The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,
announced the suspension in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, citing the persistent use of the platform for activities that are
capable of undermining Nigeria's corporate existence.
"The Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the
National Broadcasting l Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.
