Governor Ganduje condemns kidnap and murder of 12-year-old girl in Kano
Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has disclosed that the state government is also handling a case of 12-year-old girl, Zuwaira, who was kidnapped and murdered in the state.
Recall that a suspect, 21-year-Auwal Abdulrasheed, was arrested on January 9, 2022, over the gruesome murder of the girl.
Abdulrasheed had narrated how he abducted, killed the minor and demanded N1m ransom from her family after burying her body in a shallow grave.
The Governor spoke in Kano while receiving a delegation of the National Human Rights Commission that commended him over his quick response to the murder of 5-year-old Hanifa, who was kidnapped and killed by her teacher.
“We are glad for your special concern over the sad incident. As we remain in synergy with you over this tragedy, we shall follow it up to its logical conclusion,” Ganduje said.
“There is another case of one Zuwaira Gambo, 12 years old, who was also murdered. We got the culprit, as security agents trailed him and got him. This case is also going hand-in-hand with that of Hanifa. We are committed to seeing that justice is done.” he added.
A Federal Commissioner in the commission, Abubakar Muhammad, who represented the Executive Secretary, said,
“The National Human Rights Commission under the chairperson of Hajiya Salamatu and the Executive Secretary, Mr Tony Ojukwu, deemed it expedient to send this powerful delegation to you and the good people of Kano State over the unfortunate incident of Hanifa’s killing.
“She was allegedly murdered by her handlers in cold blood. We condemn such barbaric act and we have set all the process towards ensuring that justice is prevailed.
“We commend the Kano State Government for being proactive and committed towards ensuring justice on the matter.”
