Ethiopian Airlines appoints new CEO to replace Tewolde Gebremariam

 


Ethiopian Airlines appointed Mesfin Tassew as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).


He replaces Tewolde Gebremariam, who resigned on Wednesday, after serving for 11 years.


Gebremariam had cited poor health as a reason for his resignation.


In a press statement, Ethiopian Airlines said Tassew brings 38 years of experience in airline management and operations to the position. He also offers expertise in the areas of aircraft maintenance and engineering, procurement, information technology, flight operations capability development of corporate strategies, airline operation management, and corporate leadership.


Tassew had previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Ethiopian Airlines from 2010 to 2021.


Ethiopian Airlines, founded in 1946, is Africa’s largest air carrier with more than 130 international passenger and cargo destinations across five continents.
