Katsina police rescue 70-year-old kidnap victim, arrest terrorists’ informant and other suspects

 


The Katsina State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim and arrested an informant to terrorists, suspected armed robbers and vandals.


Spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said that on March 20, terrorists in their numbers, on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked the residence of a 70-year-old man, Sada Kotoko, of Unguwar Fulani, Barkiya village, Kurfi LGA, kidnapped him and rustled forty of his cows.


“Upon receipt of the report, operatives from the command responded swiftly and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel, rescued the kidnapped victim and recovered all the rustled animals. Some the bandits escaped into the forest with bullets wounds. Investigation is still ongoing,” he stated. 


“On the 7/3/2022 at about 1400hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in arresting one Salisu Halilu, ‘m’, aged 35yrs of Yar Wafa village Kurfi LGA, strongly suspected to be an informer to terrorist bandits terrorizing Kurfi, Safana and Dutsinma LGA respectively,” the PPRO stated.


“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to the commission of the offence and further stated that he conspired with one (1) one Yellow Auta Ring Leader (2) Babayye (3) Ado Tsoho (4) Sannu and other gang members now at large to rustled over hundred (100) cows belonging to one (1) Malan umme (2) Ali ‘m’ of Dagarawa village (3) Kabiru ‘m’ of Yar Barza village (4) Sule and others at Kudawa village of Kurfi LGA.


He further confessed to be part of the terrorist that kidnapped one Alh Ibrahim Bello ‘m’ where a ransom of one hundred thousand (100,000) naira was given to him as his own share of the proceed of the kidnapping. Investigation is ongoing.


ARREST OF A SUSPECTED VANDAL, SHOP BREAKER AND A THIEF: On the 12/3/2022 at about 1500hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Abubakar Sa’adu ‘m’ aged 23 years of Unguwar Alkali quarters Batsari LGA, a notorious thief, shop breaker and a vandal. Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was arrested in Batsari town attempting to vandalize and stole away armored cable wire from an MTN mobile telecommunication network mass located at unguwar Dutsinma.


In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to have conspired with one (1) Soja ‘m’ now at large in carrying out this nefarious activity. He further confessed to have carried out series of other crimes of theft and vandalization across the town. Investigation is ongoing.


ARREST OF SUSPECTED VANDALS: On the 16/3/2022 at about 0300hrs, the command succeeded in arresting a syndicate of suspected vandals namely (1) Salisu Abubakar ‘m’ aged 20 years (2) Jamilu Abubakar ‘m’ aged 27 years of unguwar waliyi, Jibia LGA (3) Najib Salisu ‘m’ aged 20 years and one (4) Salisu Badamasi ‘m’ aged 27 years, that specializes in vandalizing telecommunication mass around the state.


Nemesis caught up with the hoodlums when they when were intercepted in a green golf saloon with registration no 931 JST by men on stop and search duties along Daura – Katsina road.


Upon instant search, the following exhibits were recovered: eight batteries. Hack saw, Industrial Pliers, Cutlass, Knife and a golf saloon used for transportation of the syndicate.

In the course of investigation, suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and further stated that they removed the said exhibits from an MTN communication mass valued one million two hundred thousand (N1,200,000:00) naira. Suspects confessed to have stolen three motorcycles both in Nigeria and Niger Republic. Investigation is ongoing.


ARREST OF A SYNDICATE OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERS: On the 20/3/2022 at about 0240hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one (1) Shamsu Umar ‘m’ aged 29 years of kofar marusa quarters (2) Mustafa Nuhu ‘m’ aged 27 years of Ambassador Quarters (3) Abdulsalam Sale alias Nadurundu ‘m’ aged 29 years of sabuwar kasuwa quarters, all in Katsina metropolis.


The fact of the case is, on 28/2/2022 at about 1000hrs the syndicate attacked the residence of one Mustafa Dalhat ‘m’ aged 32 years of Modoji quarters, where they inflicted deep machete cut injury on his head and carted away (1) Peugeot 206 motor vehicle with registration number ABJ 683 AE (2) Two (2) GSM set (Iphone) valued at one hundred and fifty thousand (150,000) naira (3) One (1) Infinix hot 10 lite valued at sixty thousand (60,000) naira (4) One LG plasma tv set valued at eighty three thousand (83,000) naira (5) Cash sum of one hundred and five thousand (105,000) naira and (6) Other valuables worth over one million five hundred thousand (1,500,000) naira.


Nemesis caught up with the syndicate when they were accosted by a team of Policemen and vigilante after they broke into the residence of one Mrs Isma’il Bishir located at Ambassador Quarters and carted away her Motor vehicle. In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.
