Breaking: 4 Killed As Unknown Gunmen Attack Another Anambra Police Station
A group of unknown gunmen launched an attack on a police station in Atani, the administrative center of Anambra State’s Ogbaru Local Government Area, on Wednesday morning.
According to a report by the Daily Post, the gunmen came in the region at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday and promptly launched an attack on the police station.
According to the source, four police officers, including a female police operative, were killed in the attack on the police station.
Attacks on police stations and other government institutions have been taking place in Anambra State for quite some time, with the state’s Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, pledging that those guilty will not be allowed to continue with their actions.
The State Police Command has confirmed the attack. During a telephone interview with the Daily Post, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed that the attack had occurred.
“The hoodlums arrived at 1 a.m., and unfortunately for us, four police officers were killed as a result of their actions.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, received word of the incident and quickly dispatched men from several units to the scene of the crime.
In the meantime, the CP personally led soldiers from the command to the damaged region, and their early arrival saved the day. The hoodlums were effectively repelled, and the facility was saved as a result.”
The investigation into the perpetrators of the incident has already begun, according to Ikenga, who hopes to identify them soon.
