Chelsea To Sell Six Players To Fund Lavia, Olise Transfers

Chelsea are reportedly planning to sell six players in order to fund the acquisition of two more players in the coming days.

The Blues recently signed Moises Caicedo in a record-breaking £115 million deal, and manager Mauricio Pochettino has asked for more players in midfield and attack to help offset the impact of Christopher Nkunku’s lengthy injury layoff.

The fee for Romeo Lavia has been agreed to be £58 million with Southampton, and a medical has already been scheduled, while Olise’s £35 million release clause at Crystal Palace has been activated.

However, Chelsea, who have spent over £285 million in transfer fees, are looking to comply with financial fair play (FFP) rules.

This would result in the Stamford Bridge club selling some more players, with Goal reporting that six more players are set to leave the club.

Romelu Lukaku, a high-profile striker, and Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech are among them. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, and Ian Maatsen are among the others.

The Blues previously sold or released 11 players, including Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Cesar Azpilicueta, Joao Felix, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, earlier this summer. Kepa Arizabalaga, Real Madrid’s goalkeeper, has also agreed to a loan deal.

Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League last season and have responded by appointing a new manager and signing ten players. Last weekend, they earned a respectable 1-1 draw against Liverpool in their first EPL match of the season.
