Anambra Governor, Willie Obiano Talks on APGA’s Presidential Endorsement
Following the endorsement of Willie Obiano as presidential candidate in 2019, by the National Chairman of the APGA, Dr. Victor Oye, the Anambra governor has reacted.
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has refuted the report alleging that he may run for the presidency during the 2019 general elections.
Obiano, in a statement issued yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, James Eze, said the report was a manifestation of speculations carried too far and had no shred of truth.
National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Victor Oye, had after the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja, said the party would field a presidential candidate in 2019.
Corroborating the party’s helmsman, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, disclosed that Gov. Willie Obiano was top in the party’s consideration for the presidential ticket.
However, the governor, through his media aide, described the report as totally untrue, false and misleading, insisting that he had no intention of running for the presidency.
