Wizkid Blasts Awards Organizers Who Give African Artistes Awards Backstage
Just after his unexpected but well-deserved win, The Best International Act at the 2017 edition of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards, Wizkid has voiced out his concern with how African artists are treated by international show organizers.
The Starboy, who has had a fantastic run music-wise in 2017 and has a handful of awards both local and foreign to show for it, condemned the practice where some international awards show organizers give the plaque to African artistes back stage, instead of doing it live on stage.
Speaking during a live interview recently, Wizkid called for equal treatment for African artists, saying it’s either they’re shown same level of respect accorded their foreign counterparts or none at all.
“If you are not going to show us the same love you show your international artists on the main stage, don’t show us love at all. We have our own people” , Wizkid said.
