Workers End Strike In Ekiti As Fayemi Pays Part Of Money Owed By Fayose
The over one month strike declared by the Ekiti State chapter of National Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE), was on Sunday night called-off.
The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the decision to end the strike followed the intervention of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
A communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the union in Ado Ekiti, signed by its state chairman, Bunmi Ajimoko, and state secretary, Aleru Sulaiman, confirmed the development.
According to the union, ending the strike had become necessary as a result of the part payment of their accumulated leave bonuses, owed by the Fayose administration.
The union thus asked its members to resume work on Monday in all the 16 local government areas.
