Zimbabwean Legendary Novelist Charles Mungoshi Dies At 71
ONE of Zimbabwe’s most iconic authors Charles Mungoshi has died at the age 71...
According to sources, the author died at Chitungwiza Hospital in the early hours of Saturday .
Mungoshi had been unwell for some time .
Mungoshi once suffered a stroke in April 2010, which nearly paralysed him and sent him into a prolonged comma .
According to some reports the stroke severely affected his nervous system leading to the shrinking of his brain. He has been battling ill-health ever since .
He was well known for his critically acclaimed books Coming of The Dry Season and Waiting For the Rain. He also wrote some of his books in Shona including Kunyarara Hakusi Kutaura, Inongova Njakenjake .
He was born in 1947 in a village near Chivhu in Manyene Tribal Trust Land.
He was married to Jesesi Mungoshi who is well known as the character of Neria in a movie of the same tittle.
